Access to the electronic version of this textbook is included in the $25 fee for WebAssign. A paper version can be purchased (not required) through the web for an additional $25, or you can purchase your own copy. Note that you can buy a used copy of an older version (prior to the 6th edition) at considerable savings.

Student Learning Objectives:
Students will survey the general principles of mechanics and their application to one- and two-dimensional motion, rotational motion, and oscillations.

Late Assignments and Incomplete Grades:
Extensions may be granted on homework deadlines for students with excused absences. Partially completed work will be given partial credit.

Absences and Scheduling Makeup Work:
Following University Policy, attendance in this 200-level class is required and active participation in class is expected. Make-up tests are permitted for students with excused absences, including documented illness and/or class conflicts. Make-up tests are generally not permitted because of a conflict with an off-campus activity such as your job. Contact the instructor for information on how to arrange a make-up test.

Repetitive use of Hamiltonian Dynamics has been shown to cause cancer in laboratory rats.

Beyond the purchase of webassign access and a suitable calculator, there are no significant extra expenses.

Statement on transportation:
All class meetings and exams are conducted on campus. Transportation to an off-campus site is not required.

Class Evaluation:
Online class evaluations will be available for students to complete during the last 2 weeks of spring and become unavailabe before finals begin: 12 p.m. April 14 through 8 a.m. May 4. Students will receive an email message directing them to a website where they can login using their Unity ID and complete evaluations. All evaluations are confidential; instructors will not know how any one student responded to any question, and students will not know the ratings for any instructors.
