Modeling Supernovae with SAS models

You can manipulate this visualization as a 3D object using the free 3D viewer from CEI, which you can download from http://www.ensight.com/products/enliten.html, and downloading the scenario file of this visualization: half_frame.els (20 Mb). Or you can download a quicktime animation of the unsteady flow: QT (10 Mb).

Three-Dimensional Models

This image is a volume rendering of the gas entropy in a 3D simulation of a Standing Accretion Shock model. Blue is low entropy and red is high entropy.

The accreting inner object is visible in the section cut out of the visualization. At this point in the evolution the shock has grown to twice the original value.

Quicktime movies of 2D slices through the simulation can be viewed by clicking on the images below. These movies are also of the gas entropy.
