SUPERNOVAE !
Postshock Macro-Convection
In collaboration with
Tony Mezzacappa, Steve Bruenn, and a host of
others, we are beginning a program to investigate the effects of
convection in 2D and 3D on core collapse supernovae. Shown below
is our first attempt at 2D hydro after core bounce, showing the
results of macro-convection approximately 140ms after the 2D hydro
was started (with the help of a small random velocity perturbation).
The entropy of the gas is displayed on the left, the density on the right.
