These students were asked to bring the class up to speed on the current understanding of stellar jets and their relation to star formation, and to present the observations of Bally & Devine to the class in the context of stellar jets. The students attacked this task by gathering a list of articles on stellar jets (which was subsequently reviewed by the instructor), and dividing them up so that each student in the group had 2 or 3 articles to read on his/her own. They then took one class period to present what they had learned to the class. A second iteration on this process might have been beneficial, since the ensuing class discussion generated many questions that this group might have been able to answer given further examination of the literature (or further discussions with the instructor). Later in the semester these students were also responsible for obtaining parameter values from the literature, writing an introduction for the final report, and compiling a bibliography.
